About

A small software company that ships.

Affluent Labs LLC is a small software company in Tacoma, Washington. It started in early 2026, but the work goes back to 2018, building multiplayer games for Discord. Those grew into real apps on real app stores: ZestSSH, Recipe Spellbook, and the open-source forensics toolkit Cinder. More than 300,000 people have used our games and apps.

The person behind it works in IT security for a living: building a defense-grade compliance program for a 570-computer distributor, reviewing a company's first customer-facing AI assistant before it went live, and replacing expensive outside vendors with work done in-house. That is why security is part of the design from the first day, and why we pay attention to what things cost you.

Today Affluent Labs brings the same habits to small businesses. We learn how your team actually works, build the tool that fits, test it properly, and hand it over so you own it.

Background

Affluent Labs is run by a working security lead. The habits that protect a 570-computer company go into everything we build for you.

  • Security lead for a multi-state distributor with about 570 computers. Built its NIST SP 800-171 program, the security standard for defense suppliers, and raised its score from 22 to 92 out of 110 ahead of a CMMC Level 2 assessment.
  • Led the security, privacy, and risk review for that company's first customer-facing AI assistant: how the vendor handles data, what the AI is allowed to do, hand-off to a person, a kill switch, and audit logs.
  • Did that work in-house instead of hiring outside firms, for an estimated $120,000 or more saved in the first year.
  • Runs day-to-day security operations, vulnerability scanning and fixes, and a phishing awareness program built in-house to replace a paid platform.
  • Designed a camera system for 17 branches on open-source software, kept off the internet on its own network, projected to avoid about $280,000 in vendor hardware and licensing.
  • Runs a home security operations center on Wazuh, Zeek, and Graylog across a segmented network, and tests it with formal penetration tests.
  • Certified in CompTIA CySA+, Security+, and A+, and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
  • BS in Information Assurance and Cybersecurity, minor in Data Analytics, University of Washington Tacoma, class of 2027
  • Master of Cybersecurity and Leadership, University of Washington Tacoma, 2027 to 2028
